Titteringdales is a
family owned and run country house quietly situated in the
beautiful village of Grasmere in the heart of The Lake
District National Park. Our name stems from a mister John
Titterington who lived in Grasmere in the 1800's and had a field
named after him . Titteringdales (dales means " valley
") was built in that field. The main part of the house was
built in the early 1900's from red Lakeland stone taken from Helm
Crag Quarry and later extended in 1937 to form a new front
entrance and car park. the house pictures button will let you see
both old and new. We have views of some of the most spectacular
scenery in the Lake District, including Silver Howe, Helm Crag,
Seat Sandal and Stone Arthur to mention just a few.
Titteringdales is an ideal base for walking and close to other
towns such as Ambleside ( 5 miles from Grasmere ), Keswick (12
miles from Grasmere) and Windermere ( 12 miles from Grasmere ).
The nearest main line rail station is at Oxenholme; from there you may board a
local train to Windermere and then board a local bus ( 555 ) to Grasmere, in
high season there is a bus between Windermere and Grasmere every twenty minutes
and there are also special offers on bus tickets ( see related sites ). If you
have any further questions, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail us. We look
forward to seeing you at Titteringdales.
Your Hosts Pat & Lianne Sanders.
